Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ames

Excellent value for the money. The rooms were clean. The lobby was warm and welcoming. The staff were very kind and helpful. And the breakfast was decent for how inexpensive it is to stay there.

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Could use a refresh in some spots that are worn, but fit the bill for what i needed for four nights. The "suite" I was assigned was not luxurious, but clean and comfortable. Bathroom was very clean. No sign of bugs or anything unsanitary. Exercise room was small, but on point. Close to lots of great Ames things to do! Quiet strip with many other higher priced hotels. Breakfast didn't have a long list of items, but was adequate for me. I would have no problem returning in the future.

The staff does seem to try to help with any requests, it's was relatively clean where it matters , like the sheets and towels. The breakfast is perfect for being free/complimentary. I would definitely come again, I believe 75 bucks total is more in line with the whole place but due to last minute check in and during the Iowa State fair I have to give a big props for that.

Excellent service. We were greeted at the front counter. I made a mistake on my reservation and the clerk graciously helped fix the mistake. Rooms were very clean. Beds were comfy. Common and breakfast area were clean. Safe area. Would definitely stay here again.

I’ve stayed at Microtel 4 times in the past year. The bad reviews for this place come from middle aged women who expected a 5-star experience at a hotel that on average only charges $70-80 a night. ;) The staff here are super friendly and will assist you with anything you need help with. The service is genuinely a lot better than I expected. The rooms are just as spacious as other hotels I’ve stayed at, and they’ve always been neat and clean. If your room isn’t clean, just let the staff know and they’d be beyond happy to help. Breakfast is sub par but it’s free, so as a broke college student you really can’t complain. The prices are higher during ISU sporting events obviously, but this place is seriously one of the most affordable hotels in Ames that’s still good quality. Overall good experience and amazing prices, I’ll continue keeping my service with this place for as long as I’m living in Ames!

Room was good and close to the ISU campus where we were spending our evenings at hockey games. Also just a short drive to Historic Downtown Ames for post-game activities. Downside was primarily the difficulty in communication with site staff, and, not feeling welcome at this facility.

This is not a fancy hotel, but it’s very clean, affordable rates, and nice employees. For us it was a quick stop needing a place to sleep. It was quiet and comfortable and provided breakfast in the morning.

My family and I were traveling to a wedding the previous weekend and we were planning to stay close to Des Moines. However when we got to the hotel we originally booked, they said they sold it since we got there early in morning. So we had to find accommodation elsewhere. Sadly, we were told again and again that most places are fully booked or that they wouldn’t allow check in until the afternoon, since it was 5AM. Luckily we called this hotel and they allowed us to check in early to get some rest before the wedding that day. All I can say is thank you to the front desk agent who helped my family and I out. If we’re ever in Iowa we most definitely would stay here again.
